Women’s Programming

MEOR offers opportunities for young women to discover, explore and celebrate together.  The special bonds and friendships formed through sharing the Jewish perspective on experiences and questions women encounter in all aspects of their lives make these activities some of our most popular.

Students have the opportunity to ask questions about gender roles, relationships, balancing work and family life, cherished Jewish traditions, women’s leadership and more in a comfortable and supportive environment that is responsive to their sensitivities and concerns.

Sample Women’s Programs:

Challah Baking

Come join the MEOR women for an evening of baking, spirituality, and fun. We’ll bring the ingredients – you bring your braiding skills! The challah will bake in the oven as the women spend time together and relax. By the end of the evening, you should have a piping hot loaf or two for the Shabbat table – or to nosh on that very night!

Ladies’ Nights

Ladies’ Nights vary from campus to campus: some have baking parties of scrumptious desserts or cooking classes, while others hold a weekly learning and discussion groups about various relevant hot topics. It’s a time for women to come together in an open and warm environment, to connect, reflect, and enjoy one another’s company.

Sushi & Shmooze

This weekly lunch has been highly popular as the sushi trend continues to grow. Your local campus Rebbetzin will meet you and a group of your friends with a platter of your favorites, along with words of Torah and depth to share.

Sorority Discussion Groups

Many MEOR campuses have a strong Greek life component, and MEOR is more than happy to come to your local sorority chapter to lead an evening of stimulating and deep discussion groups.

Mind, Body, & Soul: Yoga & Spirituality

This unique women’s program attends to your physical, intellectual, and spiritual health. For the first half hour we will do some relaxing and invigorating yoga together, and as we cool down, we’ll learn about a topic in Jewish spirituality. The perfect combination for today’s college women.

Women’s Alternate Spring Break Trip

Spend your Spring Break with your favorite MEOR friends and staff! Students venture off together to another community in the US, and attend inspiring classes given by local educators while enjoying the atmosphere and activities of the area. For example, one trip recently traveled to LA, California: they visited all the main attractions and tourist sites as well as met the warm Jewish community there. They also spent an uplifting Shabbat together with the community.

  • Women’s programming has helped to create a smaller community through a mix of learning and fun activities, like challah baking, which not only help us bond as a group but also connect us to what being a Jewish woman really means.

  • The women’s programming I've been to provides a supportive, understanding, and empowering environment to explore how Judaism fits into my life.  The setting is laid back and the staff are relaxed—I always have a great time.

  • Women's lunch and learns are great because they create a more intimate setting. Our speakers always have great insights and stories to share about their life journeys. It's a good and meaningful way to put things into perspective in your own journey through life.
